Tips From a Trainer: To Follow or Not to Follow…

Fitness influencers have taken over social media, and often are offering some “new” or “revolutionary” clickbait. Anyone can be an influencer but it doesn’t mean they are a professional.

As trainers we know how to navigate what’s real and what’s just “for the gram”. We love it when you are invested and looking for new ideas and ways to stay motivated, but sometimes we fear hearing “I saw this thing on TikTok…”.

So how do you know who the experts are? Look for Certifications. Many professionals will list their qualifications such as DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy), CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach), CPT (Certified Personal Trainer), ATC (Certified Athletic Trainer) or RD (Registered Dietician).

Social media can be a great platform to share knowledge and grow the fitness community, but remember: if it seems too good to be true, it probably is!
